Melbourne’s North Food Group was created to support the local food, beverage and fibre industry, and to help local businesses meet the challenges of the local and global marketplaces.
Comprehensive research (the 2014 Food and Beverage Growth Plan: Melbourne’s North) showed that a powerful regional industry body was needed to lead and provide vision for the region, and we established the Melbourne’s North Food Group to assist in increasing productivity, competitiveness and collaboration.
You may be wondering about the advantages of signing up. Well, the group offers benefits to its partners that can assist all kinds of food and beverage related companies and organisations. Things like business reviews, bulk buying, training and skills development workshops, trade shows, buyer visits and student placements. It also functions as a hub of sorts, allowing different companies to find one another and develop lasting business relationships. This kind of collaboration is key to mutual success.
We aim to promote growth throughout Melbourne’s north, build industry connections and capability, drive innovation and product differentiation, help skills development, and position the region as a food and beverage hub.
This helps business in our region as it gives them the best chance for a successful future. More jobs, more innovation and new thinking means a prospering and thriving community that is poised to become an industry leader and an example for other regions to follow.
the Melbourne’s North Food Group has received funding and strong support from the Victorian Government, local governments, tertiary institutions and other partners. It has also absorbed the activities of the Plenty Food Group, which operated in Hume and Whittlesea.
Our group is located in one of Australia’s fastest growing regions. It will be a catalyst for new jobs and opportunities for all kinds of food and beverage businesses throughout the north. Together with our partners, we are building an organisation to be proud of.
