From state MPs and local council officials to food and beverage manufacturers and suppliers, Thursday night’s MNFG launch was an inspiring rally of community support.
The Melbourne Market in Epping played host, accommodating over 150 attendees who have followed the MNFG journey, some as far back as the beginning. On arrival, attendees were greeted with fine catering from launch sponsors Hot Coals Catering, Alba Cheese, Hot Shots Australia, Marisa’s Kitchen, Shearasun Brewery, Wine by Sam and Della Rosa.
Besides the amazing refreshments, people were eager to meet and chat with fellow community members. The room was filled with a buzz of conversations involving business opportunities, MNFG experiences so far and the future of food and beverage in Melbourne’s North.
Following a few fine refreshments, delicious finger food and insightful discussions, attendees were brought together for speeches. Speakers included Margaret McLelland – MNFG General Manager, Mark Maskiell – Melbourne Market Authority
CEO, Chris James – NORTH Link Executive Director, Tony Coppola – MNFG General Manager, The Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio MP – Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, and Minister for Suburban Development, and Corey Bray – Shearasun Brewery.
Following MC Margaret McLelland’s welcome to attendees, Mark Maskiell spoke highly of NORTH Link and MNFG’s effort in supporting local industry and creating opportunity.
Chris James highlighted the time and support placed into MNFG that has contributed to its success.
“The Food Group was four years in the making and all along we’ve had strong support and direct involvement from the Victorian Government, particularly Minister D’Ambrosio,” he said.
Tony Coppola spoke of achievements of the group so far, and the exciting upcoming opportunities available.
“I encourage you to take advantage of these great opportunities to grow and enhance your business,” he emphasised.
The Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio MP expressed her strong support for the initiative and was pleased by the fact that so much had been achieved in such a short time.
Corey Bray from Shearasun Brewery took to the podium to tell his business’s story. He spoke of humble beginnings, and how his recent partnership with MNFG had resulted in a supply deal to China.
Following speeches, the networking continued as food and drinks continued to be served. Winding down the night, attendees were handed out samples from the launch sponsors as they left, not before picking up a miniature Japanese Mint plant with a handcrafted note expressing MNFG’s appreciation for their support.
